Most of us know that cleansing is important part of skincare routine. But how many of us know that toning is equally important? Let me share that toning is as important as cleansing of our skin. Good cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine is very important for healthy and glowing skin. I won’t go into the details of it instead, I will focus on the easily available home ingredients that can be combined together to make an effective all natural toner for oily skin.

11. Homemade Toners For Oily Skin

1. Aloe Vera 


Aloe vera will restore your skin's natural pH, moisturize and water oily skin and tighten skin pores. Aloe vera has It will soothe sun burned skin, wind burned skin and comfort dry peeling skin combined with acne. The best part is its safe to use on sensitive skin and combination skin. When making this at home, carefully extract the transparent gel of an aloe vera leaf. Dice it into small cubes and blend it until you get a liquid gel-like substance. Combine this with water and a few drops of lavender essential oil. Then apply this on your face, and keep it on for about ten minutes or till it’s dry. Then, wash off. This can be the best natural face wash for oily skin.

2. Cold Water 


This is by far the cheapest toner you can ever use. Cold water (filtered, or distilled water, NOT tap water) will not only hydrate your skin cells but also reduce acne inflammations and remove excess oil on your skin surface. Cold water is the best homemade toner for oily skin especially if your skin is acne prone. If you have acne prone oily skin, your dermatologist would tell you to stay away from most toners especially those with alcohol in them as they would irritate and inflame your face. But when using cold water, you can never worry about secret chemical ingredients because it's totally natural! You can either use ice cubes on your face to tighten skin pores and reduce oiliness or keep cold filtered water in a spritzer in your refrigerator and use in the morning before you get ready for the day. Plus, it will also wake you up when you feel drowsy in the morning!

3. Cucumber 


This more of sounds like a face pack but it’s actually a toner. Grate a fresh cucumber and mix 1/2 cup of curd in it. Mash both the ingredients well with a spoon. Keep this mixture in the fridge for 5-6 minutes before using it. Use it with fingertips and spread it all over your face and then wash it off with water. This toner is really good for oily and acne prone skin. You can store the leftover pulp in the fridge.

4. Honey


Honey can help reduce excess oil on the skin’s surface, clear pores and even prevent wrinkles. Honey has moisturizing properties that nourish the skin and keep it sufficiently moisturized without making it oily. Also, the natural antiseptic property of honey is highly beneficial for acne-prone oily skin. Apply a thin layer of honey over your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then wash your face. Do this twice daily. You can also mix a small amount of ground almonds with honey. Gently massage the paste onto your oily skin to remove oil and dead skin cells. Then wipe your face with a warm cloth to open up the pores. Do this once a week.

Use these home remedies to lessen the oiliness on your skin’s surface and refine the pores for a more pleasing look.

5. Lemon 


This is a super cheap and easy to make toner which works wonders for oily skin! Being a natural astringent, lemon will help tighten large pores, kill ance causing bacteria and strip skin of excess oils. Use the ratio of 1:2 of freshly squeezed lemon juice to pure water to make a safe and frugal lemon water toner. Store in a clear empty spray bottle or spritzer. Freshen up your face with an amazing lemon water toner with a few spritzes.

6. Lemon Juice Peppermint Tea And Hazel

Take 1 tbsp lemon juice, a peppermint tea bag, 2 tbsp hazel and boiling water. First dip the tea bag in boiling water for a few minutes. Then remove the tea bag and add lemon juice and hazel to the boiling water solution. Mix well and allow it to cool down. Now using a cotton pad, you can wipe this solution on the face and neck.

7. Orange


Oranges are a complete package of nutrients. Orange peel, pulp and juice contains vitamin C. Take dry peel of an orange and make it into powder. You can store this powder and use it to make different types of face packs. Oranges can improve the texture of your skin, reduce tanning and give you a magnificent glowing texture. It helps eliminate the excess oil, blemishes and dead cells from the skin. You can take a cup of orange juice and massage it on your face in circular motion. Leave it on for fifteen minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.

8. Rose Water 


Rose water is an ancient beauty secret used by ancient Persians and Egyptians as a skin toner, to cool down inflammations and refresh dull tired skin. Ancient Egyptian women used rose water to tone their skin, check wrinkles and tighten skin pores. Persians not only use rose water to bring out a sweet aroma in cooking but also use it as a daily facial toner. Store pure rose water in a clean spritzer and spray onto your face before applying makeup for a warm dewy glow. Remember to purchase organic pesticide-free rose water to avoid any skin irritations.

9. Milk


Milk is a great oil-free cleanser that can make oily skin soft and supple. Milk has alpha hydroxy acids that gently exfoliate the skin and also help maintain the skin’s natural pH balance. Mix two or three drops of sandalwood or lavender oil with two tablespoons of milk and apply the mixture on your face using a cotton ball. Gently massage the skin for a few minutes to improve blood circulation and then go to sleep. In the morning, wash your face with cold water.

10. Green Tea 


Full of powerful anti-oxidants and wrinkle busting nutrients, green tea is perfect for maintaining all round healthy skin. It will lock moisture into your skin cells, removing any excess oils. Green tea is also the ultimate anti aging toner as it is power packed with polyphenols, which destroy free radicals that cause wrinkles and fine lines. To make a green tea toner at home, steep 1 to 2 green tea bags in boiling water and let it cool down before storing it in an empty clear spray bottle. Stick a cute label on the spray bottle saying green tea toner and spritz it on your face every morning!

11. Yogurt


Yogurt contains lactic acid that helps gently exfoliate the skin and absorbs excess oil from the face. Apply one tablespoon of plain yogurt thoroughly over your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then rinse it off with cool water. Do this once daily. Alternatively, mix one tablespoon each of organic yogurt and finely ground oatmeal. Then stir in one teaspoon of warm honey. Apply the mixture on your face and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
