Nothing beats chocolate though..lol but this is a wonderful remedy for those days where you want to get a hair mask in without the added fuss of prepping for one! So simple, you'll opt for this mask more often than not! Depending if you live in a warmer climate, your coconut oil will be in a liquid form, anything below 75 degrees and it will be in a solid state, where you'd have to warm it up in the microwave. Give yourself a mini scalp massage, nothing too crazy you want to be gentle with circular motions for a few minutes. Make sure to cover your with a shower cap, towel, plastic bag, etc. If your schedule allows it, you can leave this hair mask on anywhere from 10 mins-2 hours. The longer you leave it in, the better the mask can penetrate through your hair and scalp. Shampoo and condition as normal, and voila, you're done!
It's All In The Scalp
When it comes to dry brittle hair we should always focus on the source, the scalp! Here is where most of our underlying hair problems will usually begin, and if you pay close attention you can prevent and reverse hair damage! How can not include Castor Oil?! Effective against dry skin, a great natural moisturizer to really help restore that needed hydration to hair and skin. Besides Papaya's amazing taste, its loaded with enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. When used in a mask it acts as an exfoliate; removing dead skin and product build up while adding volume and softening hair. Dry itchy scalp can be quite the pain to deal with, to remedy this what you'll be needing:
- 1 tablespoon of Castor Oil
- Handful of mashed Papaya
Start by mashing up the papaya without the seeds, pour into a blender, next mix in the castor oil, combine the two together and blend them well. After a few minutes you should see a paste consistency. Start by applying the paste from root to tip, make sure to give your scalp a mini massage to help stimulate the hair follicles this will increase blood circulation and will promote hair growth as well. Its best to leave in any hair mask on for as long as possible, if your schedule allows it. Wrap your hair up in a shower cap or plastic bag and then with a towel. Shampoo and condition as normally.
